And the Skies Lay SilentShe used to think that if she listened hard enough, shed hear God talking to her.And the Skies Lay Silent
That was before she realized that there are seven billion other people in the world thinking the same thing, more or less, and if she had the choice shed probably talk to someone else too.
Bluesy music helps on those days when she feels as though she is truly alone, a wisp of gray in a world of technicolor rainbows. The jazzy tones soothe away the feeling that she could disappear and nobody would know the difference, the feeling that she is not really here, that nobody sees her. Shades of GrayA child his age has no business being so wise, she thinks, and then she remembers that he is old enough to understand the situation in the first place. Not old enough, perhaps, to know just what he wants, but old enough to know without a doubt that he wants something.Shades of Gray
He is old enough to catch her interest, and young enough to make her feel disgusting.
